oh just for the record I looked in my ancient "encyclopdic cookbook" which is second in authority only to the American Women's Cookbook, and mushrooms are definitely a normal, traditional ingredient in bread stuffing, right up there with celery, onions, sausage and yes, prunes. that's right, prunes, I kid you not.
Prunes - imagine me making the most horrile face you can imagine. I was scared (mentally) in 2nd grade and will never have ANYTHING to do with prunes in any shape way or form. UGH
